Acid refluxes can be irritating and very annoying. Though we grownups have some way of expressing our problem, it is very difficult for kids, especially infants to express themselves. Acid refluxes, also known as gastresophageal reflux is the term used to describe the situation wherein the food and the acids used for digesting the food tends to re enter the esophagus causing a burning sensation in the food pipe right till your mouth. Usually the opening guarding the entry of stomach opens only to let food in. and once the food reaches the stomach, it opens again to let the gas out. Sometimes food also comes out with the gas and results in acid reflux.
Due to acid reflux infants tend to spit up. It may be extremely irritating for the child. Sometimes due to acid reflux infants tend to vomit too. This happens after feeding the infants or may be a result of the baby coughing or crying.
Usually treatment for acid refluxes infants is not necessary as the symptoms tend to evaporate with time. But in some cases the causes may have to be dealt with soon.
Because of acid refluxes infants show many symptoms such as frequent vomiting and spitting of food. The infants may show signs of irritation when being fed. Children may also refuse to eat food and tend to cry almost suddenly. Frequent hiccups and coughing may also indicate that the child is suffering from acid refluxes.
Though it happens rarely, due to acid refluxes infants may show some respiratory problems and frequent ear and sinus infections. Weight loss may also be a marking feature for acid refluxes in infants. Frequency of sore throat may also be pointing towards acid refluxes. One should run tests to find out the severity of the problem and find a proper solution for it.
